For Immediate Release–May 13, 2011
He’s My Brother She’s My Sister, the psych-idyllic folk-rock ensemble with a touch of vaudeville glamour, have announced today that they will follow up their four weeks of SRO shows at the Satellite in Los Angeles, with five special east coast performances. They will head first to Brooklyn NY’s Music Hall of Williamsburg (Sunday May 29), New York, New York’s Bowery Ballroom (Memorial Day, Monday May 30), and Washington, DC’s Sixth and I Historic Synagogue (Tuesday May 31), in support of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero’s Alexander‘s solo project. They will then headline their first east coast shows at BAR in New Haven, CT, on June 1, and at North Star Bar in Philadelphia on June 2.
He’s My Brother She’s My Sister are led by a brother and sister duo, the dueling lead singers and songwriters Rob Kolar and Rachel Kolar, tap-dancer Lauren Brown, cellist Satya Bhabha, lap-slide player Aaron Robinson and Oliver Newell on upright bass.
Come see why they have been called “delightfully original” (Indieshuffle) “a time warp to the golden present” (LA Record) and “forward thinking folkies forging new ground”(New Times). “Rob and Rachel’s voices mingle like glamour in the desert” and serve up “party music for coyotes drunk on champagne” (LA Weekly). “Their mojo (has) the power to heal the afflicted” (Deli Magazine) so “see them before your friends do.” (Jambase)
The band has just released a new video for their song “Tales That I Tell,” featuring the band playing the song in a live setting.
